Joan F. Miller, 80, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Joan Frances Miller was born on July 12, 1931, the daughter of Arthur John and Mary Rosalia (Rohde) Kaiser in Waverly. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1949.
On July 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Miller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. In the fall of 1952, she went to work part time in the office at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Waverly, where she later went full-time until 1957. At which time, Joan and her husband began working at her father's implement company, Art Kaiser Implement north of Waverly on U.S. Highway 63. In 1973, they closed the business and in 1974, Joan began selling Avon products. Along with her husband, they also began a catering business.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the couple loved to travel, especially to Florida.
Survivors are her three daughters, Barbara Miller of Waverly, Kathryn (Victor) Matthews of Des Moines and Julie Kramer of Waverly; son, Rick (Angie) Miller of Hugo, Minn.; three grandchildren, Matt (Sarah) Kramer, Corey (Shelby) Miller and Lindsey Miller; three sisters, Veronica McKenzie of Waverly, Barbara (Tom) Olson of Des Moines, and Sharon (Arnold) St. Hiliaire of Isantic, Minn.; and two brothers, George (Nancy) Kaiser of Waverly, and Jon (Patty) Kaiser of Waverly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald J. Miller on Dec. 18, 2000; sister, Rosemary Austin; and by a brother, Jerome "Jerry" Kaiser.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with the Rev. Mike Tauke presiding. Inurnment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Waverly. Joan's body has been cremated, and the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church with a scripture service Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the church.
