John W. Price, 71, of Denver, Iowa, died on, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

John was born on August 20, 1942, in Prescott, Ariz., the son of John William and Adrienne Viola (Krallman) Price. He attended school in California and then entered the United States Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963. He was united in marriage to Karen Gielau on Sept. 9, 1962, at St. Paul's U.C.C. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked for Bell Telephone Company in California from 1964 to 1965. John and Karen returned to Denver in 1965. He worked for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
For the last 44 years, John has enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting with family and friends at his second home at Harpers Ferry. He also enjoyed collecting coins and playing the lottery. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Karen, of Denver; his son, Todd (Brenda) Price, of Montezuma; four grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Viola Gielau, of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Harold Gielau.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 8919 Burton Ave., rural Cedar Falls, with Pastor Erik Breddin officiating. Burial was held in the St. Paul's U.C.C. Cemetery. Military Rites at the grave were conducted by the Acker-Matthias American Legion Post #653 of Denver. Visitation was held on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also for one hour before services on Monday at the church.
