Lois Maxine Anderson, 84, of Shell Rock, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center in Shell Rock.

Lois was born on May 27, 1929, in Hebron, Neb., the daughter of William and Helen (Fangmeyer) Muehling. She was confirmed in April of 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Lois attended St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary and then Waverly High School graduating in 1947. She then attended Augustana Nursery School for one year in Chicago. On Oct. 29, 1950, Lois was united in marriage to Merrill Anderson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Shell Rock where Lois spent her time as a homemaker and also running a day care out of her home for many years.
Lois's memory is honored by: her husband, Merrill, of Shell Rock, ; three sons, James (Barb) Anderson, of Waverly, Thomas (Addie), of Auburn, Ill., and Rick (Cyndi), of Houston; a daughter, Lori Anderson, of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (LeRoy) Voigts, of Waverly; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Muehling, of Waverly. Lois was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Kevin Merrill Anderson in 1968; and a brother, LeRoy Muehling.
Funeral services will be held at 4: p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with the Rev. Kim Smith officiating. Lois will then be cremated and private family burial of her cremains will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
