Carolyn Mae Schmidt, 57, of Waverly, died on, Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, from complication of cancer.

Carolyn was born on June 26, 1956, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Arlin L. and Mary A. (Burchell) Frizzell. She was baptized and confirmed in the Baptist faith. Carolyn attended school in Charles City and Waverly, graduating from the Waverly-High School in 1974. Following her schooling, Carolyn worked at Bartels Lutheran Home for eight years. In 1982, she went to work for the Big 10 Mart as manager. In 1997, she started working for RADA Manufacturing as a floater working several different jobs. In 2013, after 17 years with RADA, Carolyn was forced to stop working, due to ill health.

Carolyn enjoyed country music (especially Reba Macintire, Toby Keith and George Strait. In her younger years, she loved going camping with her family and friends. What gave her the most joy was being with her two boys, Jason and Justin and her three grandchildren, Ally, Jake and Chloe.

The last few months she was taken care of at home because that was her final wish. Her son, Jason, her niece, Sara Sutton and her sister, Linda Hoth, along with friends and family helped take care of her. She spent the final two days at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff of the Cedar Valley Hospice and to Nici Kleckner.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Jason (Heather Dorn) Baldwin, of Waverly, and Justin (Jackie Ferrerosa) Eberhart, of Miami; four grandchildren, Jake, Chloe, Ally and Dillan; her mother, Mary A. Frizzell, of Waverly; two brothers, Allen (Judy) Frizzellm of Grimes, and Neil (Linda) Frizzell, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; her sister, Linda Hoth, of Waverly; and her seven nieces and nephews, Sara "Rockstar" Sutton, Gina, Jimmy, Jon, Casey, Chas and Taylor and 5 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlin, a sister, Sylvia Sutton, and two nephews, Augustus Sutton and Michael Hoth.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial of her cremains will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice – Waverly office, Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo or the . Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
