Arlo Mayne Sherburne, 84, of Waverly, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Arlo was born October 16, 1929, in Butler County, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Lena (Gerdes) Sherburne. He graduated from Finchford High School in 1947. On May 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Heyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. The couple farmed near Shell Rock, Clarksville, Plainfield and in 1986, the family moved to Waverly.
Arlo was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. He enjoyed traveling and farming.

Arlo is survived by two daughters, Janet (Robert) Hansen of Milo, Iowa; JoAnn (Ernie) Andriese of Alameda, California; two sons, Gene (Deb) Sherburne of Andover, Minnesota, and Glen (Kim) Sherburne of New Sharon, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Hansen, Beth (Joel) Mosher, Stephanie (Shawn) Montgomery, John Hansen, Shana (Adam) Gray, Sadie and Sofie Sherburne, Cody Wiebers, Jessica, Rachel, Jacob and Benjamin Sherburne; 7 great grandchildren, Cassandra & Joshua Mosher, Christopher, Logan and Paige Montgomery, Briar Wiebers and Henry Gray; four brothers, John (JoAnn) Sherburne of Shell Rock, Gary (Audrey) Sherburne of Aplington, Larry Sherburne of Clarksville and Jack (Judy) Sherburne of Upland, California; one sister, Marsha Shipper of Kesley, Iowa; brother-in-law, Roger Feckers of New Hartford; sister-in-law, Vera Hoins of Shell Rock; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; daughter, Jane Sherburne; brother, Erwin Sherburne; sisters, Maryln (Delbert) Lorenz and Marcella Feckers.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastor Kim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Waverly. The family will greet friends an hour before the service at the church.
