Milton Edward Huebner, age 84, of Readlyn, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo from complications of cancer.

Milton was born on Oct. 26, 1929, in Readlyn, Iowa, the son of Paul and Clara (Bruch) Huebner. He was raised in Readlyn and graduated from the Readlyn High School in 1948. On Nov. 6, 1948, Milton was united in marriage to Melba Potratz at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate. The couple farmed all their life near Readlyn, retiring in 2000. Besides farming Milton also worked for Rath Meat Packing in Waterloo, John Deere in Waterloo, and drove school bus for Wapsie Valley Schools.
Milton was a life time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn where he held various church offices, board of directors for B and B Oil Company, and Dairy Heard Improvement Association. He also volunteered at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo since 2001. Milton's enjoyments included playing cards, Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs, however, what he loved most was being with and spending time with family and friends, especially grand and great-grandchildren.
Milton's memory is honored by: his wife, Melba, of Readlyn; four daughters, Micki (Eugene) Thurm, of Readlyn, Marsha (Robert) Bailey, of Dike, Sharon (Tim) Caswell, of Cedar Falls, and Susan (Jim) Hlas, of Toledo; a son, Brian (Jill) Huebner, of Raymond; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; two step-great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Berdine Petrick, of California, Carol Huck, of Waverly, Velda (Les) Leisinger, of Waverly, Ardith (Roger)Reinking, of Grundy Center, Betty (Gary) Mathias, of Readlyn, and Eunice (Herb) Mock, of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Readlyn. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Readlyn where the family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
