Beverly Everson, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Bev was born on April 15, 1931 to Blanche and Mel Olson in Boscobel Wisconsin. Bev graduated from Boscobel High School in 1949 and received a degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville.

Bev met Dale Everson in high school, and they married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua Iowa in 1953. Bev taught fourth grade in Madison, Wis. while Dale studied medicine. They moved to Shell Rock in 1961 where Dale opened a medical practice.

Bev immersed herself in the raising of their four children and in the community life of Shell Rock. She and Dale were the founding members of the Shell Rock Music Association and the first Spring Swing Show was held in 1965 and is still going strong 49 years later.

Bev was elected mayor of Shell Rock in 1990 and served two terms. Governor Branstad appointed her to the State Community Development Board and honored her with the Governor's Leadership award in 1991 and the Governor's Volunteer Award in 1997. As one of Shell Rock's most active cheerleaders she made lasting contributions to the Shell Rock Development Corporation and to the Shell Rock Trust which supports local civic projects, the penny campaign that raised funds to build the Shell Rock Swimming Pool as well as fundraising for the Benny Gambaiani Public Library. She was also active in the Iowa Caucuses with the Democratic Party. Beverly was recently inducted into the Butler County Hall of Fame.

After Dale's death in 2004, Bev moved to Lexington, Ken. to be near her son Ron. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Richard and Marjean Olson.

She leaves behind children Randy, Ron, Lisa, Michelle; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her siblings James Olson, Tracey (Olson) Swanson, Melinda (Olson) Dilley, John Olson; sisters-in-law Joyce (Everson) Lee, Carol "Kay" (Everson) Duit Brader; and countless other relatives and friends whose lives she touched so dearly.
