Mary Catherine Hamilton, 64, of Shell Rock, died Sunday morning, March 23, 2014, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison from complications of ALS.

Mary was born on Oct. 3, 1949, the daughter of Lester Eugene and Jeanette Marie (Nicolaus) Hamilton in Waverly. Mary graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock high school and attended University of Northern Iowa for three years. While attending college she held various jobs in college and on campus. She was a Camp Counselor in Wisconsin and held various jobs in Madison, Wis., for 3½ years. She then moved back to Waverly, where she was employed at Carnation (Nestlé) for 30 years before retiring in April of 2005.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. Mary enjoyed scuba diving, swimming, yard work at home and caring for her cats.
Survivors are her two brothers, William (Linda) Hamilton, of Waverly, and James (Connie) Hamilton, of West Liberty, ; six nieces and nephews, Katie, Stacy, Danielle, Megan, Ian and Chase; and four great nephews and nieces, Quinton, Allie, Amri and Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette, on Aug. 29, 2001 and her father, Lester, on Nov. 24, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to the Mass at the church. Parish Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
