Dorothy Elaine Lenius, 90, of Shell Rock, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 21, 1921, in Shell Rock, the daughter of Henry and Millie (Remington) Renning. She was raised in Shell Rock where she was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church and graduated from the Shell Rock High School in 1939.
On June 19, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Lenius in Gulf Port, Miss., where Ray was stationed with the U.S. Air Corps. During her life, Dorothy worked as a librarian at the Shell Rock Library, at Montgomery Wards in Waverly, and at Meyer Pharmacy in Waverly. However, her favorite job was taking care of her family.
Dorothy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock.
Dorothy's memory is honored by her son, Alan Lenius of Royse City, Texas; her daughter, Barbara Winegarden of Davenport, and her husband, Paul Hammerschmidt; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, H. Robert, Roger and Clinton Renning.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastor Kim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 3, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where family met with friends.
