Bradley D. "Brad" Maas, 49, of rural Shell Rock, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning, Nov. 13, 2013, of natural causes.

Brad was born on Nov. 20, 1963, in Waterloo, the son of Bob and Beverly "Bev" (Harp) Maas. He attended the Whittier Elementary School and later Columbus High School in Waterloo, graduating in 1982. On Sept. 3, 1988, Brad was united in marriage to Ann Westendorf at the United Methodist Church in New Hartford. The couple would later divorce. During his life, Brad worked for Matt Parrott Office Supply, Strotman Building Center in Waverly and Benton Building Center in Cedar Falls.
Brad is survived by his two daughters, Abbey Maas, of Des Moines, and Christina Maas, of rural Shell Rock; his mother, Bev Maas, of New Hartford; his sister, Brenda (Joel) Rahm, of San Diego; a nephew, Harrison Rahm, of San Diego; several aunts and uncles; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob, on Nov. 4, 2002.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in New Hartford, with the Rev. Betsy Piette officiating. Brad was cremated following the service. Public visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in New Hartford, 406 Oneida Street. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock is assisting the family.
