Dorothy J. Henderson, South Canaan, died peacefully Saturday morning at home. She was the widow of Clyde "C.W." Henderson, who died in 2008.
The couple had been married for 52 years.
Born August 20, 1932 in South Canaan, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Olga Urda Jubinsky.
A lifelong resident of South Canaan, she was a dairy farmer and housewife, and drove school bus for over 25 years for the Western Wayne School District.
She was a woman who displayed many talents.
She would manage farm chores all day, have a hot meal on the table and still make time for family and friends.
She loved polka dancing and playing cards.
In later years, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and watching birds at the feeder.
She was a strong, soft spoken woman with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone.
However, her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Millie McCarthy and husband Tom, Waymart, and Margie Henderson, with whom she resided, and Margie's companion, Butch Short.
Margie and Millie cared for Dorothy in her later years so that she could remain living in her home.
Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren, Colleen Fitzgerald, Waymart, and Brian Fitzgerald, South Canaan, who were the joys of her life.
She is also survived by sisters Mildred (Ed) Denhardt and Betty (Wendell) Hawes and was preceded in death by sister Irene (Frank) Bates.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to thank the Traditional Home Health & Hospice, especially Barb and Nancy, for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Rev. Arthur Davis officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery.

Margie, thinking about you all at this difficult time! Your mom drove the school bus on our route! She was always very kind and capable. I also remember that she was involved in the PTA while we were at The South Canaan School! I had often wished that my mom would get more involved in the PTA! Lol! At any rate, God Bless her. She is with your dad now!
