Frank Albert Baerenklau, 95, a resident at Bethany Village, died on April 20, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jean Dolores Paris on November 12, 2010.|
Born on October 7, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Albert George and Anna Helen Fallert Baerenklau. At a young age Frank began working in the family fuel oil business, Baerenklau & Company Inc, in Brooklyn.
He was the third generation owner of the family business and retired in 1979 and moved to Boca Raton, FL. When Jean took ill, they moved to Sandusky, OH to be close to family. Following her death, he moved to Bethany Village in September of 2012 to be near his older son.
An active member of the Brooklyn community, Frank was a life member of the Kiwanis Club of Highland Park, a director of the YMCA in Brooklyn, Wood Haven Round Table and the Williamsburg Luncheon Club. He was a past president of the New York Heating Association and a board member of the Nassau Savings and Loan among many other organizations.
Frank enjoyed any social activity, but especially enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
Surviving are his sons, Albert Baerenklau and wife Bette Ann of Beach Lake and Gary and wife Betsy of Huntersville, NC; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and his grand dog Bella.
In accordance with his wishes, private cremation arrangements are being handled by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale and there will be no public services. A private memorial service will be held at the family?s convenience.
