Frank Wenkosky, 76, of Hamlin passed away Thursday at the Mid-Valley Health Care Center, Peckville. His wife of 55 years is the former Beverly Brundage.|
Born in Scranton on October 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Francis and Mildred Martello Wenkosky. He was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School Class of 1958.
Frank was the proverbial "jack-of-all-trades" who found much satisfaction in being an independent small-business man. He and his longtime friend Albert Shaffer established S.&W.
General Contractors in the 1960's and they built and remodeled many houses in Wayne County. Frank continued his business ventures to include excavating and trucking.
His last venture was the realization of owning and operating his own farm (the Red Gate Farm) where he worked the land and raised beef cattle. He enjoyed the companionship of his dog Dixie as they would travel around the farm. He took great pride and pleasure in being a driver and delivery man for Locklin's Bottled Gas in Hamlin for the last several years. Although he was a workaholic, he enjoyed restoring antique cars, trucks, and tractors when time permitted. He was known for his passion for Ford trucks and John Deere products. He looked forward to having occasional coffee breaks and "talking shop" with his good friend Clarence Butler.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Mid-Valley Health Care Center for the compassionate and professional care provided to Frank during his stay at the Center.
Also surviving are his daughters Diane Lewan and her husband Earl and Debbie Sparks and her husband Mark; his granddaughters Amy Lewan and Kristin Lewan; his sister Joan Hineline-Royce; his sister-in-law Jeanette Wenkosky; several nieces and nephews.
