Joseph Lewis Brussell, 83, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. |
He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Smith.
Born on September 12, 1930 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Leo Brussell and Mary Helen Morgan Brussell Doherty.
Following the death of his father, Joe left school and began working on the family farm.
He later purchased his own farm on Beech Grove Rd. and began buying and selling used machinery.
He took great pride in knowing the value of different machines and the connections he had made in that business.
In 1977 he retired from farming and his son took over. He continued buying and selling machinery until he was stricken ill.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale, Beech Grove Range and Eastern Milk Producers.
Also surviving is his son Joseph Leo Brussell and wife Nancy of Honesdale; his daughters Cynthia Williams and husband Irv, Constance Donat and husband Dennis and Debra McLaud and husband David all of Honesdale; his first wife and friend Jeannette Perry Brussell of Honesdale; his brother William Doherty of Honesdale; sisters Patricia Miller of Honesdale and Frances Romich and husband Larry of Waymart; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Linda Sue Brussell and brothers Jack and Gerald Brussell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24th at 10 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale.
Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
