Patrick Newcomb, Sr Obituary

Patrick Joseph Newcomb Sr.
Patrick Joseph Newcomb Sr., 72 of Honesdale, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Nanci E. Carmody. The couple married December 1, 1990.
Born September 17, 1936 in Jessup, he was the son of the late Paul and Regina Munley Newcomb. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and later enlisted in the US Air Force in January of 1955, serving during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the military, Pat managed Woolworth Stores in the Philadelphia area and Atlantic City. Later he became a self-employed wall paper hanger and painter. Pat also found much joy and satisfaction, proudly working for the Family Foundation School in Hancock, NY. He was great friend of Bill W's, blessed with 37 years of "one day at a time."
Pat was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honedsale and shared an hour of Eucharistic Adoration until taking ill.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a hero and inspiration to many.
Also surviving are his sons Patrick J. Newcomb, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL and Matthew J. Newcomb of Honesdale; a daughter Amy and husband Eric Williams of Honesdale; grandchildren Benjamin and Emilia Williams; brothers Phil Newcomb and wife Maryann of Jermyn, Bobby Newcomb and wife Carol of Archbald, Paul Newcomb of Eynon, Michael Newcomb and wife Karen of Lake Ariel, Charley of Carbondale, Jimmy Newcomb of
Forest City; sisters Ann and husband Bob Kilmer of Carbondale, Jean Cobb of West Palm Beach, FL, Mary and husband Billy Taylor of Milford, CT, Margaret Solomon of Newton Lake, PA and Sally and husband Pete Warren of Newton Lake, PA; an aunt Grace Munley of Jessup; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister in law Linda.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 AM. As per his request, cremation will follow. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9.
