Robert D. Fries Sr. Obituary
Robert D. Fries Sr., 87, of Aldenville, died Monday in the VNA Hospice unit at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton.

His wife of over 62 years is the former Laneta Kennedy.

Born in Aldenville, son of the late Arthur D. and Reba C. Fitze Fries, he grew up and spent his entire life farming on the family homestead where he was born. He also drove a school bus in the Aldenville area for many years.

A true gentleman, he was a hard worker and lived a simple and humble life. He loved nature and the outdoors, and enjoyed working in his garden and planting trees on the property with his son Bobby.

An avid reader, he also liked hunting, snowmobiling, and taking pictures. One of his favorite past-times was polka dancing with his wife, and listening to country and western music.

He dearly loved his family and his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren.

He was a longtime member of the Aldenville Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a member of the Board of Trustees, a lifetime member of the P.T.A., a member of the Dairymens League, and served on the boards of the Pleasant Mount and Clinton Center Cemeteries.

He was also a charter member of the Hawks Nest Hunting Club in Winterdale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas Fries and wife Pamela, Bethlehem; their children, Erik Fries, his wife Paige, and daughter Kinsey; and Andrew Fries, all of Lancaster; a sister, Mary Ryan, Waymart; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Fries, Aldenville; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Fries Jr.; an infant daughter, Deborah; and two brothers, Bill and Karl Fries.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Aldenville Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Gary Gilpin, pastor.

Everyone attending the funeral may go directly to the church.

A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4, and 6-8 at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Construction Fund at Aldenville Baptist Church, (in care of) Pastor Gary Gilpin, 15 Brookside Rd., Waymart, 18472.
