Phillip Contorno of Waymart died Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill. |
His wife of 21 years is the former Linda Smith.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Phillip and Angela Santoro Contorno, he had worked for 30 years in Trucking and 13 years at General Dynamics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Also surviving are a daughter Valerie Ann Contorno and her husband Jack Kleinbauer of Mayfield; sons Phillip and his wife Deborah of Hamond, LA, Steven and his wife Linda of Castlerock, CO, Thomas and his wife Melissa of Mayfield; a step-son Ryan Mahler of North Carolina; sisters Grace Santa Maria of Farmingdale, NY, Catherine D'Ambra and her husband Victor of Mastic, NY, and Angela Rottkamp and her husband Robert of Melville, NY; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Michael; brothers John and Robert.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of the service.
Cremation will follow the service on Friday in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
