Jonathon M. Richner, 62 of Honesdale, died Monday morning, March 25, 2013 at home after an illness.|
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Sherrie Leunes. The couple married on June 6, 1987.
Born on February 10, 1951 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late George and Cornelia Newenhouse Richner. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1969. He served in US Army during the Vietnam War.
John worked for several tree companies over the last 40 years, most recently JAFLO Inc.
John loved the outdoors, working in his garden and spending time with family and friends in "The Roost."
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, son, uncle, and friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Also surviving are his two children Michael and Marissa; a grandson Matthew, three sisters, Ruth Hauenstein and husband Jim, Elizabeth Armstrong and Mary Spurling and husband Paul; four brothers, William and wife Priscilla, James, Arthur and wife Carolyn, and Daniel and wife Diana; a brother-in-law Mark Leunes and wife Michelle; his father-in-law Gus Leunes; a nephew Mark whom he considered his "other brother" and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his bother David Richner; a sister Bertha Lautenschlager and his mother-in-law Joyce Leunes.
As per his request, there will be no public visiting hours.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 28th at Bethany Cemetery at 11 a.m. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
