Carolyn Dovin of Lake Ariel died Wednesday evening at Commonwealth Hospice of Regional Hospital in Scranton following an illness. Surrounding Carolyn was her loving family. Her husband is Joseph Dovin. In February they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Her husband cared for her with great devotion during the last weeks of her life. |
Born in Dickson City, daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Stefano Gadomski, she had worked in the garment industry and with her husband on their dairy farm.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who shall be missed deeply. She will be remembered for her zest for life, her sense of humor, and her caring warmth for family and friends. She was an avid reader – of the newspaper, news magazines and biographies. She loved flowers and always had large flowerbeds. She loved to bake bread and her Ukrainian specialities, poppyseed and nutroll pastries were family favorites. In her later years she enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with her friends at the Hamlin Senior Center.
Also surviving are: daughters Jayne Dovin of Lake Ariel and Joanne Shafer of Havertown, PA; a sister Helen Nasevich of Lake Ariel; a grandson Michael; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Catherine, Alice, Mary, and Sophie; brothers John and Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the Church.
