Alberta M. "Bert" Correll

Alberta M. "Bert" Correll, of Waymart, died Friday evening at home. She was the widow of Irwyn "Red" Correll, who died January 1, 2000.

Born in Binghamton, NY, daughter of the late Frederick B. and Mary B. Walsh Breidenstein, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1943. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a switchboard operator at Hendrick Manufacturing Company, Carbondale. 

Together with her husband, they were very active in numerous local square dancing clubs, including the Pioneer Pomanders, the Abington Alamanders, the Round Dance Club, and the Happy Footers. Bert and her husband were also charter members of the Rare Squares Dance Club of Honesdale. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and she was the president of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Surviving are a sister, Betty A. Ross and husband Francis F., Simpson; a brother, James P. Breidenstein and wife Katherine, Fruit Cove, FL; a cherished cousin, Albert Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Retired Navy Commander John F. Breidenstein.

The funeral will be Thursday with graveside services at 11 a.m. in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart by the Rev. Doug Posegate, Pastor, First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
