Dianne "Doris Aim" Weams Ashton, age 61, of Killian, LA, passed away on the afternoon of Feb. 1, 2013. The funeral service will beheld at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Bethlehem Baptist Church (27279 Highway 22 Killian, LA 70462). The Rev. Robert E. Smith of Bethlehem Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will follow the funeral at the Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by N.A. James Funeral Home of Hammond, LA. Dianne was born in Prairieville, LA on June 8, 1951 to the union of James "Jotto" Weams and the late Della Lomas Weams. She graduated from Kennedy High School in Gonzales, LA. Dianne was married to the Rev. George E. Ashton of Killian, LA on Oct. 9, 1971. They were married for 41 years. Dianne was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member of Sunday school, Bible study and served as president of the sisterhood until her departure. She was an inspiration to and loved by all. Diane leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, the Rev. George E. Ashton of Killian LA; four children: Raymond Lewis, LaTonja Ashton, Shantel Ashton Womack (Johnny), and George "Tony" Ashton (Charmaine), all of Killian, LA; her father: James Weams of Galvez, LA; three brothers; James W. Johnson (Rose) of Phenix City, AL, Melvin Weams (Beverly) of Hammond, LA, and Curtis Weams (Sandra) of Galvez, LA; eleven grandchildren: Ramon Moore of Ponchatoula, LA, Gharmaine Ashton, Antonio Ashton, Triston Ashton. Jazmyn Womack, Jaylee Womack, LaTerica Ashton, Christian Carter, Jordan Carter; Jayden Carter, and Kennedi Mason, all of Killian, LA: and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dianne was preceded in death by her mother, Della Lomas Weams; two brothers: Woodrow Johnson and Lionel Weams; mother-in-law: Rosa Smith Ashton and father-in-law: George "Pop" Ashton; and one brother-in-law Larry Ashton. The family of Diane Ashton wishes to thank all those with kind words and thoughts.
