Lula Cecilia Braud Gautreaux, born on February 11, 1926; died on May 31, 2017, at 4:19 p.m. at St. Joseph Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. Visitation was held at St. Theresa Church from 9 – 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m.

She is survived by the family she was not ready to leave: Her children, Monica Gautreaux Graham and husband, Bernis Harrison Graham; Carla Gautreaux Rutherford; Ruckle Gautreaux, Jr. and wife, Loretta Babin Gautreaux.

Her grandchildren, who never left their Granny's house without a 'snack for the road': Terri Graham Erwin (and husband, Chris Erwin), Mark Graham (and wife, Becky McAninch Graham), Milly Brenn Bordelon (and husband, Ronald Bordelon), Jason Rutherford (and wife, Stacy Jeansonne Rutherford), Courtney Rutherford Pourciau (and husband, Pat Pourciau), Corey Gautreaux (and wife, Ashlee Whann Gautreaux), Scott Gautreaux (and wife, Sandra Richardson Gautreaux) and Tiffany Gautreaux.

Her great-grandchildren who taught her to facetime, and who rarely left without receiving a hug and a back-scratch from their 'Angel' or Granny: Townes and Adley Erwin; Evelyn Graham; Justin, Ronald, Jr., Dylan and Kelsee Bordelon; Rachel and Alexis Domingue; Tyler and Brent Rutherford; Emma and Lilliann Pourciau; Jansen, Annabella, Ethan, Luke and Owen Gautreaux.

Her great-great grandchildren, whose very names always brought a smile to her face: Bryson, Randy and Morgan Rutherford.

She graduated from Gonzales High School in 1943. She schooled herself in specific areas of interests: sewing, gardening and health information.

Preceded in death by her parents, Christophe and Lydia Blouin Braud; six sisters and five brothers; her husband, Ruckle L. Gautreaux, Sr.; her daughter, Deborah Gautreaux; and grandchildren Shelly Brenn Domingue and James Brenn.

She leaves her prayers and blessings with Maci Gautreaux, her yet-to-be-born great grandchild; and with Kolynn Bordelon, her yet-to-be-born great-great grandson.

She was a vibrant woman, and a devoted mother and grandmother, whose greatest love was her family. She loved music and loved to dance.

Many who knew her will remember her words of wisdom:
'If they can live with it, I can live around it'.
'No place looks better to me than (home)'.
'Take those babies to Church'.
'Be Good to Each Other'.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her sitters, who helped her live at home; to St. Joseph Hospice who helped her transition through palliative care, and the Staff of St. Joseph Carpenter House, who provided end-of-life care with joy and dignity.
