Ms. Hathorn was a native of Jena, La. and a resident of St. Amant, La. She passed away at her home with all of her children and grandchildren by her side at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the age of 78. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children Brian S Hester, Sabrina K Hester, Rebecca A Hester Donaldson, Regina R Hester. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her two sisters, Louise Root of Houston, Texas and Faye Hailey of Nebo, La. She is preceded in death by her mother, Suzie Ozana Crooks, her father, Theodore Roosevelt Butler, and her brother Andrew C. Butler Sr. She was a highly respected licensed professional counselor and case manager in the field of mental health and substance abuse for 20 years. She was also a pioneer in the field of case management for Magellan Health Services in the State of Louisiana. She put all of her heart into her work of helping others and seeing them set free from addictions. Rachel was also an ordained minister. Ms. Hathorn was Valedictorian and listed in Who's Who of Smiley High School Students. She received her BA from Tarleton University and her MBA from Liberty University. She was a loyal friend and considered by her friends to be their Steel Magnolia. She will be laid to rest at Nebo Cemetary in Nebo, La. beside her mother.
