Charles Schoepfle Sr.

BELLEFONTAINE – Charles E. Schoepfle, Sr., 72, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima, Ohio.

He was born on February 15, 1943 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a son of the late William Henry and Margaret Elizabeth (Downing) Schoepfle. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Max and Bill Schoepfle.

He retired after 44 years from Emerson Climate Technologies, formerly Copeland Corporation, Sidney, Ohio. He had also worked as a security guard part time for nearly 20 years for Pinkerton's.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Schoepfle of Bellefontaine; sons, Christopher (Antoinette "Toni") Schoepfle of Bellefontaine and Charles (Lynne) Schoepfle, Jr. of Rushsylvania; grandchildren, Kristi, Jessica & Justin Schoepfle, Madyson Spence, Samantha Schoepfle, Shyanne Schoepfle and Max Schoepfle; several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Margie Snyder of Bellefontaine.

He had attended the Church of the Brethren in Bellefontaine. He was recognized as a hero for saving several lives in a vehicle explosion and was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was a train enthusiast.

Pastor Fred Clogg will officiate a funeral service on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the EICHHOLTZ DARING & SANFORD FUNERAL HOME, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, where friends may call on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
