Leonard LeVan

BELLEFONTAINE – Leonard O. LeVan, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Logan Acres Care Center. He was born in Bellefontaine on October 9, 1928 to the late Orville and Lucille (Roach) LeVan. On September 29, 1945 he married Donna J. Hill and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Karen (Ed) Marsman of Lewis Center; a son, Keith (Cathy) LeVan of Rushsylvania; five grandchildren, Jamond (Missy) LeVan, Shannon (Clay) Benton, Joseph (Bre) LeVan, Ashley (Donte') Ferguson, and Januah (Jeff) Anspach; nine great grandchildren, Lily and Lauryn LeVan, Tanner, Ty, and Paityn Anspach, Heath, Maggie, and Eli Benton, and Ella Ferguson; four step great grandchildren, Chase Anspach, Brandon LeVan, Cameron and Hayley Deitsch; a sister-in-law, Esther LeVan. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bill" and James "Jim" LeVan and mother and father-in-law, Frank and Margaret Hill.

Leonard was a member of the First Christian Church of Bellefontaine, where he and his wife were faithful members of the Pilot Class. In his early years, Leonard was a great fast pitch softball player, and even recorded a "no hitter." Leonard worked for the railroad, AJ Miller, and retired from D.A.B. in Bellefontaine after 37 years of service. He and his wife, Donna, spent many years wintering in Bradenton, Florida. Leonard enjoyed playing pool, fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels, gardening, and caring for the flowers in his yard.

Gene Marine will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
