Martha Phillips


LAKEVIEW – Martha B. Phillips, 94, of Lakeview, OH, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2015 at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, OH.

Martha was born on January 24, 1921 near South Solon, OH, to the late Roy and Susie Snyder Irons. On September 30, 1938, she married Lester B. Phillips in Covington, KY by Pastor Creamer, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Phillips, a granddaughter, Cindy, two sisters, Ruby Warnecke and Jean Straley, and one brother, Clarence Irons.

Martha is survived by two sons, Gary (Sharon) Phillips of Springfield, OH, and Randall (Mary) Phillips, of Lakeview, six grandchildren Cheryl Phillips, Doug Phillips, Lisa Webb, Lori Arnold Christy Phillips, and Amy (Brett) Johnson, eight great grandchildren Chris, Niki, Meredith, Jimmy, Ashley, Courtney, Caitlin, and Lauren, two great-great grandchildren, Beau and Michelle, one daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Phillips and several nieces and nephews.

Together Martha and Lester owned and operated Phillips Happy Hallow Campgrounds at Indian Lake for 24 years where they held open air Sunday School Church Services. She also served as

President of Woman's Society at Story Hospice from 1961-1963. She was a member of the Muchinippi Church.

Pastor Ed Shady will begin funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Monday April 27, 2015 at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 North Main Street, Lakeview. Visitation is Sunday April 26th from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial is in Fletcher Chapel Cemetery, Harmony Twp, Clark Co, OH.
