Russell Osborn Jr.

LAKEVIEW - Russell Foster Osborn, Jr., 81, of Huntsville, OH, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.

Russell was born on January 20, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Russell Foster, Sr. and Lillian Pitzer Osborn.

On October 21, 1989, he married Eloise Miller Hemmelgarn and she survives. He is survived by two children, Michael (Gena) Osborn of Breckenridge, CO and Elizabeth (Douglas) Henderson of Maineville, OH, four step-children, John (Robyn Young) Hemmelgarn of Williston, VT, Lori (Thomas Burwinkel) Hemmelgarn of Cincinnati, Linda Hemmelgarn of Cold Springs, KY and Sharon (John) Vance of O'Fallon, IL, 13 grandchildren, Bradley (Jessica) Henderson, Courtney Henderson, Justin, Trevor, and Paige Osborn, Grace Hemmelgarn, Lisa, Michael, and Jeffrey Burwinkel, Jessica Waters, Allison, Katie, and Jennifer Vance, and one sister, Jane (Jack) Pollock, of Los Angeles, CA.

Russell was an aeronautical engineer and received his BS at the University of Cincinnati. He was employed at AFRL @ WPAFB for 35 years and FlexSys, Inc. for 10 years. He continued to do research and consulting while at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was a member of AIAA, APB and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533 in Lakeview. He loved to read and fish. During his youth his family lived in Michigan for several years, where his passion for fishing grew. Russell dreamed of one day owning a wooden boat and he was also involved in building racing hydroplanes.

Deacon Jeff Hall will begin funeral services at 12:00 pm, Saturday July 9, 2016 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with visitation from 10:00 am until time of services. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery, Bellefontaine.

Memorial Contributions may be given in Mr. Osborn's name to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Mary of the Woods Church in Russells Point.
