Vernon Hudkins

RUSSELLS POINT - Vernon Lee Hudkins, 54, of Russells Point, OH passed away, Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 at Heartland of Indian Lake.

Vernon was born on November 13, 1960 in Marion, OH to the late John P. Sr., and Martha L. Koch Hudkins.

On April 2, 1996, he married the former Deloris A. Sutphin and she survives. He is also survived by nine children, Barbara Dunson of North Carolina, Lilly Young and Joan Hatfield of Dayton, OH, Rita Carter of Bellefontaine, OH, Grace Martin of New Bremen, OH, Clyde Hatfield of Tennessee, Joe Hatfield of London, OH, Betty Hatfield of Russells Point, and Ross (Rhonda) Hatfield of Lakeview, OH, 23 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Theresa (Eddie) Dapore of Florida, and Rena Loggains of Cave City, KY, four brothers, John P. Hudkins, Jr., and Michael L. (Christina Smayda) Hudkins, both of Lakeview, Bryon W. (Marie) Hudkins of Russells Point, and Jason E (Niccie) Hudkins of Lewistown, OH and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Vernon was a 1979 graduate of Marion Pleasant High School. He retired from Nash Finch after 22 years. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching WWE wresting, NASCAR, and was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers, and Cincinnati Reds. Vernon was a compassionate and kind individual who was willing to help those in need. He greatly adored his grandchildren.

Pastor Don Faulder will begin funeral services at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 22, 2015 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview with visitation from 12-2. Burial is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be given in Mr. Hudkins' name to the Logan County , c/o Mary Rutan Hospital, 205 Palmer Ave, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
