Wanda Lee McBride


BELLEFONTAINE - Wanda Lee McBride, age 85, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 13, 1931 to the late Owen F. Staup and Madonna (Campbell) Staup. A sister, Geri Howard, preceded Wanda in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Kerns of Belle Center, and Kimberlee (Joanna) McBride of Richmond, Indiana; 6 grandchildren, Kristina, Marcia, Mark, Miranda, Amanda, and Maureen; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Phyllis (David) Ackley of West Liberty; and 5 nieces and 1 nephew.

Wanda was a member of the Episcopal Church in Bellefontaine and the Lions Club. She was a 1950 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. Wanda then graduated from nursing school at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a retired Registered Nurse and devoted her life to helping others. Wanda was responsible for the 1963 State of the Mental Health Clinic in Tri-Valley. She enjoyed being with her family. Wanda loved cooking and listening to classical music, with a martini.

Chaplain Victor Brady will officiate a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the columbarium in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
