SPRINGFIELD – Imelda David Mitchell, 59, of Urbana, formerly of LaVerne, California, and Quezon City, Philippines, passed away at home in Urbana, Ohio, on June 28, 2014. She was born in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines, on July 23, 1954, to the late Dr. Rodrigo and Dra. Efigenia (Cruz) David. Raised in Poblacion, San Miguel, Bulacan, Philippines, her brothers - Miguel David and Luis David - continue to reside in the Philippines. She is predeceased by her loving aunts Fe T. David and Josefina M. David. Imelda, or "Meldy" as she is known to many, loved to travel, chat with friends and spend time with her family. Her humor, strength, resilience, infectious joy, generous spirit, caring nature and unconditional love touched her family and friends throughout the world. She will be tremendously missed. She is survived by her husband Mark Mitchell of Urbana, three sons Terence Cordero of San Francisco, Ken Cordero of West Covina, and John Cordero of Denver, daughter-in-law Kristina (Alagar) Cordero, two grandchildren, Elise Cordero and Oliver Cordero, and dog Snickers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Springfield on July 3, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Ramon Owena, Celebrant.
