Allan H. Ramsey(1925 - 2014)

SCIO - Allan H. Ramsey, 88, of 4819 Middaugh Hill Road, passed away in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., on Thursday (April 10, 2014) unexpectedly.

He was born in Centerville, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1925, the son of Howard and Mary Zeches Ramsey.

He had resided in Scio for the past 58 years, where he operated his own dairy farm.

On Aug. 20, 1949, in Belfast, N.Y., he was married to Jean M. Dalton, who predeceased him on March 17, 1987.

He attended school in Rushford, N.Y. He was an active member of Farm Bureau of Allegany County and The County Co-Operative Extension Service.

He had served on the Allegany?County Soil Conservation Board and the Allegany County Soil Extension Board.

He also sold Hoffman Seeds, Growers Fertilizer, operated the Scio Satellite Sales for many years and had been a Technician for the Curtiss Breeding Co.

He was a former member of the DHAIA, Allegany-Steuben Holstein Association, NYS?Holstein?Club and the National Holstein Friesian's.

He is survived by a daughter, Rosemary R. (LeRoy)?Cole of Scio; 6 grandchildren, Jenette A. Ramsey of Scio, Daffney J. Clark of Alfred Station, Halsey M.?Baker of Scio, James A. Ramsey of Scio, John A. (Alissa)?Ramsey of Scio and Spenser A.A. Clark of Wellsville; 4 great-grandchildren, Derrick Willetts of Scio, Zackery Willetts of Olean, Meghan Ramsey of Scio, and Trinity Clark of Wellsville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his parents, wife, son, Ernest, infant daughter and 3 brothers.

Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Monday (April 14, 2014) from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at which time services will be held. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio.
