SPRING HILL, Fla. - Nancylou E. Peters, 76, and a former Wellsville resident, passed away in the Spring Hill Regional Hospital on Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2013)?following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Scio, N.Y., on May 16, 1937, the daughter of Lyman Clayton and Violet Potter Babbitt.
In Canisteo, N.Y., in 1961, she was married to Charles L. Peters, who died Feb. 17, 2006.
She had attended the Scio Central School and Alfred State College of Nursing.
She was a graduate of the Newark, Va., Private Investigators School, Continental School of Beauty in Olean, N.Y., and the Spring Hill Holistic School of Massage Therapy.
While in Wellsville, she owned and operated the Hill Top Rest Home on the Andover Road, Harkness Clothing Store and the Slender Quest of Wellsville. She was also active in real estate sales and had owned and managed many local properties.
She held memberships in the Wellsville Legion Post #702, the Spring Hill Moose Club
and the Spring Hill K of C Club.
Surviving are a son, Daniel (Mindy)?Peters of Wellsville; daughters, Catherine (Tom)?Neugent of Wellsville, and Vanda (Rick)?Rawleigh of Spring Hill, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda (Richard)?Fanton of Scio; a brother, Lyman "Sonny" (Barb)?Babbitt of Springwater, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Lucia Babbitt of Allentown, N.Y.; a special sister-in-law, Marilyn Hyslip of Wellsville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, Richard, and sisters, Louise Geffers and Madeline Babbitt.
Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Saturday (Sept. 28, 2013) from noon to 3 p.m., when services will be held. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio, N.Y. Memorials may be made to the Comfort House of Allegany County or to a
