John W. Green Obituary
JACKSONVILLE, ARK. – John W. Green, 61, passed from this life to be with his Lord on Saturday (July 23, 2018) following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Green was born on Dec. 29, 1956 in Hornell to Howard Dale and Mary Lou (Clark) Green. He was a 1977 graduate of Andover Central School. On Oct. 29, 1977, he married his high school sweet heart, Jane Nye, who survives.

John worked as a shop foreman and master mechanic for Crain Hyundai in Sherwood, Ark. the last 15 years until his retirement in January, 2017. A mechanic his entire life, he previously worked for Hetzel Motors, Lester's Chevrolet and Pfunter Sales and Service, all of Wellsville, as well as a mechanic for Don Siegrist in Jasper.

In addition to his wife Jane of 40 years, John is survived by a daughter, Tricia (Justin) Scott of Cabot, Ark.; his father and step-mother, Dale (Mary Jane) Green of Andover; two brothers, Alan (Sharon) Green of Andover and James (Deb) Green of Rochester; two grandchildren, Nicholas Green and Olivia Scott; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn (John) Slack of Lonoke, Ark., Janet (Edward) White of Wellsville and Patricia Nye of Louisiana; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Lou Green.

John was a big NASCAR fan and loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed nothing more than the open road of a bike trip, often with his wife on the back.

John was all about the people in his life. His favorite spot was sitting on the porch and visiting with family and friends. He loved to make people laugh and was the consummate jokester. Even in the hospital, he was everybody's favorite patient. From his goofy pajama bottoms to the time he frightened his nurse by playing dead, he was always looking to brighten somebody's day. His wife Jane says John liked to flirt for the attention and the smiles, but there was never a doubt about his love and devotion to her or his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

There will be a time of local visitation on Friday (Aug. 10) from 6-8 p.m. at the Chenunda Creek Fellowship Church in Independence. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. at the church immediately following the visitation with Rev. Stephen Richard, officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday (Aug. 11) at 10 a.m. at Valley Brook Cemetery in Andover.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com
