Carey F. Demgen Obituary
WELLSVILLE - Carey F. Demgen, 60, and a former Wellsville resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (Aug. 20, 2013) in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., following a brief illness.

He was born in Troy, N.Y., the son of Lawrence and Annette Carey Demgen on Sept. 25, 1952.

In Scio, N.Y., on March 24, 1990, he was married to Sheila L.?Griffin, who predeceased him on March 4, 1996.

He was a resident of Wellsville for approximately 45 years, prior to moving to the Hornell area.

He graduated from the Bishop Burke High School in Gloversville, N.Y., and the Alfred State College of Culinary Arts.

He had been a chef at the Ponce De?Leon Restaurant, Hornell, N.Y., Castle Restaurant, Olean, N.Y., Cameo Restaurant, Wellsville, N.Y., Moonwinks Restaurant in Cuba, N.Y., and the Old West Restaurant, Alfred, N.Y. He was last employed at Alfred University in the food service dept.

An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, golf and watching the N.Y.?Yankees, Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres.

He attended the Immaculate Conception Church when in Wellsville.

Survivors include a?longtime loving companion, Annette Freeland of Hornell,?N.Y.; son, Jerry Demgen of Wellsville; daughters, Pam (Steven)?Allen of Andover, N.Y., Patty Rogers of Wellsville, Tammy Rogers of Scio, N.Y., Jennifer Freeland of Hornell, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Susan (Barbara)?Carey of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and wife.

Family and friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville today (Aug. 23, 2013) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday (Aug. 24, 2013) from 2-4 p.m., at which time private services will be held. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville. Memorials may be made to the or the Hope?Lodge in Rochester, N.Y.
