Sidney Ross "Sid" Miller Obituary
CUBA - Sidney Miller, 84, of 9233 Beebe Hill Road passed away, Sept. 27, 2013, at Cuba Memorial Hospital following a short illness with cancer.

He was born April 8, 1929, in Cattaraugus. He was the son of Earl and Nellie Miller. On July 3, 1948, in Belmont, he married Amy Campbell, who predeceased him in June 1970. On April 21, 1973, in Olean, he married Ruth Markert Tubbs, who predeceased him on April 9, 2012.

Mr. Miller attended Cattaraugus Central School, Alfred State and Business School at the Alexander Hamilton Institute. He was employed by the Acme Electric Corporation from 1948 to 1954 at which time he resigned to start his own business, Miller's Suburban Propane in Belmont. He expanded his business by purchasing a propane business in Franklinville in 1958, Stearn's Propane in Arkport in 1965, Bradford Nugas in 1970 and Cuba Cylinder Gas in 1971. He later sold his business to the Suburban Propane Corporation based in New Jersey and continued to manage the business until his retirement in 1991.

While residing in Belmont, Sid was active in community affairs. From 1950 to 1972, he was a line officer for the Belmont Fire Department, a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and a member of the Belmont Rotary Club of which he was past president.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean, during which time he was a member of the church choir, served numerous terms as a trustee and many years as the President of the Congregation. He was also a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany. At the time of his death, he had been attending the First Baptist Church in Cuba, where he also sang in the choir.

He was also well known for his deep, singing voice and sang many solos in area churches, at funerals and at weddings. Mr. Miller was a past member of the Wellsville Apollo Club and the Olean SPBQUSA and the keynote chorus.

Mr. Miller enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He was a committed Buffalo Bills fan. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Allegany Hills Country Club and the Bramble Ridge Country Club in Lakeland, Fla. He also enjoyed traveling, going to Europe and Alaska, and trips around the USA.

Surviving him are three sons, John Miller of Apple Valley, Calif., Sidney (Patty) Miller of Ontario, Blake Miller of Austin, Texas; 2 daughters, Priscilla Miller of Tigard, Ore., and Marcia Donohue of Winter Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Eunice (Edward Rich) Berry of Friendship, and Joyce (Wayne) Harvey of Cuba. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Clayton and Albert Ray; and a daughter, Ann Parker of Sparks, Nev., in 2006.

Friends and Family are invited to call on Oct. 19, 2013 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a Memorial Gathering for sharing of memories at the Allegany Hills Golf Course, 9622 Hardy's Corners Road, Cuba, NY 14727 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Oct. 20, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Cuba at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Poelma, Pastor of the Cuba First Baptist Church will officiate. There will be dinner after the services at the First Baptist Church for friends and family.
