Carol Thirza Emberly, 70, passed away at 11:25pm on June 25, 2013 at her daughter Myrna and son-in-law Godfrey's home after a 17-year battle with cancer. Carol was born on June 23, 1943 in Lacombe, AB to Mike Macey and Illa Lynn. On May 9, 1964 in Terrace, BC, Carol Macey married Glenn Emberly, who preceded her in death on July 27, 2001. Surviving is their only-child, Myrna Westmorland, son-in-law Godfrey Westmorland of Victoria, BC, Carol's 9 siblings and 2 granddaughters. Carol graduated from College of New Caledonia in Prince George, BC and worked in construction as a reinforcing steel detailer. In 1991 she then moved with her husband to Nanaimo and had lived here ever since. She and her husband started a very successful business, Classic Imaging Products, in Spring of 1992 with 4 employees where they remanufactured toner cartridges to recycle and reduce the carbon footprint of Nanaimo businesses. Carol thought her greatest legacy was her daughter and grandchildren, and she lit up a room with her smile and laughter. She was an avid collector of owls, enjoyed art, crafts, and woodworking with recycled materials - she also loved keeping up to date with technology and social media. Memorial contributions may be made in Carol's name to the Victoria Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation.
