TRAIL, Joseph (Joe) Alexander 1925 - 2013 Born 16 February, 1925 in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire to John and Elizabeth Trail. Passed away 4 October, 2013. With his wife, Dorothy and daughter he immigrated to Canada in 1957 and in 1959 joined the mechanical department at Alpulp as a millwright. Joe was pre-deceased by Dorothy in 2008. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Hazel (Lloyd) and grand-daughters, Jennifer (Darren), Joanna (Jeff) and Katharine, and his four great-grandchildren (Cameron, Connor, Nolan and Sydney). Also his brother Jim (Jean) and nieces and nephews in Scotland, England and New Zealand and his many friends. Joe enjoyed his recreation; fishing was a passion as was curling in the Sunday morning hang-over league. He was also committed to Branch 55 Legion serving as president from 1967-69. Lawn bowling in Port Alberni started with Joe and a few stalwarts getting together to pursue their dream of a competition sized bowling green. His love of Robbie Burns also made him a popular speaker at Burns Suppers. The family is very grateful to the doctors and nursing staff at Port Alberni and Delta Hospitals for their compassionate care and to the doctors and nursing staff at Delta Hospice where he spent his last days in comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer society of your choice. A celebration of Joe's life will be held in Port Alberni at the Lawn Bowling Club on November 23rd at 2pm.
