SORBIE, Lyle Edward Feb. 13, 1955 – Jan. 2, 2014 . Lyle passed away peacefully, at home in Cobble Hill, surrounded by dear friends and his devoted niece, Alexandra. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Rosalie, his parents, Lenore and Adam Sorbie, and siblings Donald, Sharon and Daryl, he is survived by his sister Lynn and brothers Neil and Ian. Also survived by a host of dedicated and loving friends - Wendy Hiebert, Jamall Seif, Mark Salmon, Jim Carey aka Spoony, Syd and Michele Pace, Sherry Castles, Melissa Cottam, Ernie Vince - and countless others who cared for Lyle in his final weeks and made his journey as comfortable as possible. Lyle is remembered with great affection by dozens of his 'kids' who he and Rosalie employed at the Hot Spot in Cobble Hill. Generous of spirit, quick witted, loyal and loving, Lyle will be sadly missed by all who knew him. At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on February 14, 2014 (one day after his 59th birthday) at Sands Funeral Chapel in Duncan followed by "a Lyle party" at the Cobblestone. A donation to the Lake Cowichan Animal Rescue Society (www.lakecowichananimalrescue.com), the Foundation for International Community Assistance www.fincacanada.org, or a charity of your choice would honour his memory. Condolences may be offered online at www.sandsduncan.ca
