It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ralph Schulte on January 11, 2014. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret. He leaves behind his son Terry (Roxane) and daughter Tracy (Don) as well as his beloved grandchildren Chris, Katy, Arianna, Kelby, Kanyon, and Kaidyn. Ralph was born January 1, 1944 in Essen, Germany and came to Canada as a child. Growing up in rural Alberta, he loved farmwork and the rural life. He translated this into a life time's work in the agricultural field where he made many lifetime friends. His lawn certainly showed this expertise and was envied by many. For many years, he devoted his spare time to coaching sports: baseball, basketball and hockey. His volunteer time in hockey never really ended and he spent countless hours volunteering for minor hockey in both Alberta and British Columbia. Ralph particularly enjoyed singing and would often spend hours in weekly practice sessions and loved sharing his music with friends. Through his continued faith, he was active in the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Prayer services are Tuesday January 14, 7 pm at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay and the Funeral Mass is Wednesday, January 15, 11 am at Christ the King Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the first responders for their dedicated efforts, their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice and spend time with the people you love.
