Thaddeus H. "Ted" Laski, of Hartford and W. Hartford passed away, Friday August 16, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte (Mazurek) Laski for fifty-seven years. Ted was born in Torrington in 1918, and lived in Windsor as a youth, West Hartford for fifty-six years, and Hartford's Avery Heights Community most recently. He received a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Tri-State University, Angola, Indiana. He served as the Director of Finance and Administration for the State Community College System from its inception in 1965 until he retired in 1973. In this capacity, he was responsible for establishing state fiscal and administrative procedures in the activation and operation of the twelve colleges throughout the State. He was a Certified Public Accountant with membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, and conducted a public accounting practice for several years. He served in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps during World War II, attaining the rank of Captain in his position of Inspector, Camp Patrick Henry, Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation, Virginia. He also served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a member of The Old Guard of West Hartford, and the Thistle and Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Clubs. Over the years, Ted was active with many volunteer activities.

He leaves a son Raymond Laske and daughter-in law Colette of Southington; a daughter The Reverend Barbara Laski and son-in-law Art Carpenter of Port Townsend, Washington; a daughter Christine Walker and son-in-law Bart of Colchester; and three grandchildren, Paul, Katherine and Kevin Walker.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 24, 2013 at 10 AM, at the Avery Chapel, 705 New Britain Ave., Hartford. A gathering will follow in the Adams Room at Avery Heights, to celebrate his life with stories, remembrances, laughter and refreshments. There will be a private burial at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. There are no calling hours.
