Shapiro, Morton
Morton "Mort" Robert Shapiro, 73 formerly a long time resident of Westport, CT passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013. He was born June 23, 1940 in Manhattan, NY, to David and Frances Shapiro. Mort grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Brooklyn College with a BA in Economics. Mort married his wife of 50 years, Carol in September 1962. His first career was a System Analyst. In 1980 he took his skills as a system a manager and joined his entrepreneurial wife owning and managing franchises of Lawn Doctor in the Norwalk, Wilton, Bethel, Redding and Brookfield areas. In 2004 Mort retired and relocated to Hobe Sound, FL. Being in Florida he was able to pursue his love of boating, fishing and golf. He is survived by his wife Carol Shapiro of Hobe Sound, FL., sister Marcy Perlmutter of Van Nuys, CA., children Eileen and Gerry King of Easton, CT., Amy Shapiro and Gary Tajchman of Mansfield, MA., and Michael and Jennifer Shapiro of Los Gatos, CA., grandchildren Samantha, David, Maya, Jacob, Jack, and Ben. Services were held at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield and he was laid to rest at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY on Monday, August 12, 2013.
