Gresh, Lynn
Lynn Kamerer Gresh, 71, beloved wife of 51 years to Donald Allen Gresh, Sr., passed away on January 4, 2014. Lynn was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1942 to the late Lawrence Kamerer and Irene Kamerer. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University and worked with children with learning disabilities. As a devoted wife, she made sacrifices and multiple moves in order to support the career of her husband, and in doing so, made numerous friends at every stop along her life. At each location, she tried to make a difference in the community by volunteering extensively in churches, various civic, and charitable organizations.
During her residence in Aiken, Lynn organized, supported and was an active participant in many social and charitable groups including:
Women of Woodside, The Garden Club, Millennium Two Investment Club, Disciplers Bible Study, and several bridge groups. She served on several committees for Woodside Plantation Country Club. She also served in many capacities including President, officer and board
member for The Woodside Plantation Nine Hole Ladies Golf Association since it's inception in 2002. She had a passion for gardening and decorating, taking special interest in making hundreds of wreaths for the Audubon society. Lynn also donated blood every six weeks for the past 12 years of her life.
Lynn is survived by her husband, her brothers; Dr. Donald B. Kamerer and his wife Carol, and Richard A. Kamerer and his wife Elaine: her son, Donald Allen Gresh, Jr. and his wife Donna; her twin daughters, Susan Gresh Dunlap and Laura Gresh Wallace and her husband Rodney; nine grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be cremated at George's funeral home and services will be held by Fred Andrea at First Baptist Church at a date to be announced, and a reception immediately following at Woodside Country Club.
The family would like to express special gratitude to Dr. David Squires and the staff at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
Expressions of sympathy for the Gresh family may be left online at www.georgefuneralhomes.com.
