Ruth Altmix Obituary

Ruth Marie Altmix, 75, of 928 Christopher Court, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2013) in Sunset Home.

Ruth was born March 9, 1938, in Quincy, a daughter of Arthur and Rosina Schulze Peters. She married Donald Altmix on July 13, 1957, in Quincy's St. Mary Catholic Church and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past July.

Ruth was a beautician with a shop in her home for several years, and she and her husband, Don, had a screen printing business for more than 20 years, retiring in 1997.

She was a 1956 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Quincy Beauty Academy.

Ruth was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church for many years until its closing, and most recently was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include her four children, Tim (Rosa) Altmix of Augusta, Ga., Steve Altmix of Springfield, Ill., Christine (Dan) Miller and Greg (Chris) Altmix, all of Quincy; a brother, Jerry Peters of Quincy; grandchildren, Matt (Kate) Altmix, Tiffany Altmix, Brooke Altmix, Adam (Michelle) Miller, Nathan (Ashley) Miller, Evan Miller, Emily Miller, Alex Altmix and Jordan Altmix; and seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death, by her parents; four brothers, Robert, Russell, Richard and Howard Peters; and a sister, Bettie Richmiller.

SERVICES: 9 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. James Wheeler OFM. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, with a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

MEMORIALS: St. Dominic's School, St. Francis School or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
