HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Bessie Lou Brink, 91, of Quincy, Ill., formerly of Hannibal, died at 9:32 p.m. Friday (March 16, 2012) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.
Bessie was born on April 13, 1920, in Downing, to Virgil and Alta Benson McCloskey. She married Carl E. Brink in 1941. He died Oct. 25, 1986.
Bessie previously taught at Hannibal-LaGrange College. She was later the owner and operator with her husband of the Southside Market in Hannibal. After her retirement Bessie sold real estate in the Hannibal area for a number of years.
She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all Bessie was a devoted wife and mother. She was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include three children, Mike Brink (Marcy) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bettina Brink of Quincy and Steve Brink (Kelly) of Quincy; six grandchildren, Marshall Brink, Mitch Brink, Zach Brink (Devin), Haley Hoyt (Jordan), Cheyenne Luthy and Alexis Luthy; two great-grandchildren, Layla Brink and Ryleigh Hoyt; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brink was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and three sisters.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal, with the Rev. Tim Goodman conducting. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Northeast Missouri Humane Society, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal.
