Betty Ann Spears Hudson, 83, of 3215 Lindell Ave., Quincy, died at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday (March 27, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.
Betty was born March 26, 1930, in Poland, Ind., a daughter of Edward and Agnes Allen Spears. She married William Glenn Hudson on Feb. 11, 1951, in Poland. He died on Sept. 22, 1985.
After moving to Quincy in 1958, she went to work at Gardner-Denver Corp. in the data processing and payroll departments. She retired in 1994 after 35 years of service.
She was a member of Salem Evangelical Church of Christ where she was involved in the Undershepherd Program for many years.
After her retirement she enjoyed traveling, aerobics exercises, bowling and was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital for 16 years. She was a fan of the Quincy High Blue Devils, Quincy Gems, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Betty also greatly enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with her longtime friend and companion, Vernon Kaltenbach.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Ann (Terry) McGartland of Quincy; one son, Bradley Wayne (Janice) Hudson of Carthage, Mo.; four grandchildren, Bradley (Amy) Hudson Jr. of Quincy, Kelli (Gary) Lambert of Quincy, Steve (Crystal) Dieterle of Quincy, and Greg Dieterle of Liberty; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel (Jr.) Jordan of Greencastle, Ind., and Mary Landes of Reelsville, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Roy Spears.
SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Disseler conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
VISITATION: noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ.
