TIOGA, Ill. -- Betty Jean (Mason) Busch, 72, of Tioga, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday (Feb. 18, 2013) in her home with her children by her side.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1940, in Mesa, Ariz., a daughter to Henry and Georgia Lagate Ross.
She was of the Christian faith and a member of the Moose Lodge in Fort Madison, Iowa. Betty was a hard worker and very devoted to what she did. She worked many jobs before becoming a nurse, but home health care was her passion. She loved flowers and gardening, crafts and feeding the birds. She loved to travel, but she was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her special friend, Darrel Guthrie; five children, Cynthia Mason and her husband, Lee, of Keokuk, Iowa, Karen Frakes and her husband, Russell, of Elvaston, Harold Mason Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Seymour, Ind., James Mason and his wife, Marybell, of Tioga and Grace Mason White and fiancÃ©, Lewis Huffman, and his three children of Hamilton; four stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Louie who has been by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Harold Mason Sr.; her husband, James Busch; a sister, Georgia Tripp; a daughter at birth, Rhonda; granddaughter, Barbara Masterson; a niece, Kim Baumbaugh; and a nephew, Marvin Tripp.
SERVICES: A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, with the Rev. Joel Slaughter conducting. Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery in rural Keokuk.
VISITATION: Friends and family will gather from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Arms of Angels or Humane Society.
