Bonnie Lu Turek , 89, of 3438 South Glendale, Quincy, died at 4:02 p.m. Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) in Sycamore Health Care Center.
Bonnie was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Norfolk, Neb., a daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Woodbury Kellogg. She married Robert Fox Turek on Aug. 18, 1949, in Pierce, Neb. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1982.
She graduated from Norfolk High School in Norfolk. Bonnie then went on to receive her associate's degree. Bonnie came to Quincy with her husband in 1949 for his job at Moormans. Bonnie worked previously at Coca Cola and the telephone company.
She was a member of First Union Congregational Church and lifetime member and past president of PTA. Bonnie was also a member of the Quincy Elks Club
and held past positions with the Elks Auxiliary. Bonnie volunteered and was a board member at the Quincy Museum since it began in the early 1980s. She also volunteered for over 30 years at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room, ICU, emergency, and surgical wards until her decline in health in recent years.
Bonnie is survived by two children, Annette (Aurelio) Ennis of Quincy and Robert (Carol) Turek of Quincy; three grandchildren, Amelia (Jim) Schuessler of Fort Madison, Iowa, Robert W. (Andrea) Turek of Quincy and April Turek of Quincy; and two great-grandchildren, Vance Schuessler of Fort Madison and Madelaine Turek of Quincy.
In addition to her husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bettie Kellogg Hines; and a brother, Boyce Arthur Kellogg.
SERVICES: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Quincy Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Cowman conducting. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
MEMORIALS: First Union Congregational Church.
