HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Brent A. Schmalshof, 48, of Auburn, Ill., passed away Saturday (June 1, 2013).
He was born Oct. 2, 1964, in Hannibal, Mo., a son of John and Ruth Ann Key Schmalshof.
He married Karen Schmidt and they later divorced.
Brent was employed for more than 25 years as a digital copier representative, currently working for GFI Digital.
Surviving are one daughter, Rachel Schmalshof of Auburn; former spouse, Karen Schmidt-Schmalshof of Auburn; mother, Ruth Ann (Bob) Voight of Sidell; father, John (Deb) Schmalshof of Gahlonega; one brother, Wheeler (Kimberly) Schmalshof of Lincoln; one niece, Hannah; one nephew, Keyton; two grandmothers, Carrie Askew of Quincy and Lela Key of Chrisman; extended family, Dale, Rosalee, Stan, Dori and Regan McDannold, Becky Phillips, Amy and Kent McDermott and Dustin and Joshua Craig; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, George Schmalshof and Malcolm Key; an uncle, Bowen "Skip" Watts; and sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Donnie Craig.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Branley Funeral Home, Auburn. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Rachel's college fund.
