HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Caroline J. Mayfield, 80, of Hannibal, formerly of 1307 Horne St., Quincy, Ill., died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 29, 2012) in Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Born April 4, 1932, in Quincy, Caroline was a daughter of Amos and Flora Louderback Miller. She married Harvey D. Mayfield on Nov. 10, 1955, in Quincy. He died July 22, 2007.
Caroline enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Mrs. Mayfield was employed at Motorola until its closing and then at Blessing Hospital in the Housekeeping Department until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia McGlaughlin of Hannibal and Suzanne Birk of Germany; two sons, David Mayfield (Sherri) and Dick Kerker (Kathy), both of Quincy; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Beulah Hendricks of Quincy; a brother, Irvin Miller (Betty) of Quincy; a brother-in-law, Chalmer Robinson of Barry, Ill.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mayfield was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; a sister, Evelyn Robinson; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hendricks.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. graveside Monday in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home, conducted by Pastor Chuck Sackett.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, Quincy.
