HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Connie Jean Abright, 62, of Hannibal, died at 1:25 p.m. Friday (July 6, 2012) at her home.
Connie was born on Sept. 4, 1949, a daughter of George and Dorothy Jean Hudson Hoskins.
She was married to George Clayton Abright Jr. in Hannibal on April 6, 1974. He died on Jan. 12, 2004. Also preceding Connie in death was her mother, Dorothy Jean Hoskins Goss and her father, George Hoskins.
Connie graduated cosmetology school in 1968. After graduating, she completed advanced training in 1969. She managed a 10-station beauty shop in Columbia for seven years and worked as a beautician in Hannibal at the Beauty Haven and the Patrician. She was later a homemaker and supported her late husband, George, on the family dairy farm for many years. Most recently, Connie was a property manager, managing family property and rental property. Connie was also a certified spiritual counselor, specifically assisting widowers or anyone in need.
Connie loved to cook and entertain, especially at her pool. She loved hosting family gatherings, dinner parties and spending time with family. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, boating at Lake of the Ozarks and other water activities. Connie also loved to care for her yard and flowers. One of Connie's greatest joys was helping people and counseling others.
Connie was active in her church and enjoyed activities there. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal.
Survivors include three children, Marcie Kaye Abright Jarner (Johan) of Chicago, Victoria Jean Abright of Chesterfield, and George Clayton Abright III of Hannibal; three siblings: Howard David Hoskins (Sarah) of Hannibal, and a sister and brother who are twins, Carolyn Kaye Bradley (Jeffry) of Saverton, and Christopher Raye Hoskins of Hannibal; exchange students previously hosted by the Abright family, Andreas Nyqvist, 1993-1994, Johan Sahlgren, 1994-1995, and Helene Rothstein, 1995-1996; Stephen Quach (Karyn) and Heather Birt (Kent), who were like a son and daughter to Connie; a special niece, Crystal Dawn Brown; other nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Phil Guibor; and many other close friends.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Bob Parker, Melvin Bramblett, J.J. Hoskins, Stephen Quach, Marshal Brown, and Corey Cornelius.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jeffry Bradley.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
